STEM students create winning invention. At Streamwood High school students wanted to create a micro generator that uses wind power to light up small lights. They wanted to make a small light to illuminate dark areas like parks and parking lots. The students won there state competition and went on to compete in the nations and could win $200,000. Though they did not win they still earned $25,000 grant for their school. In this article the there was a lot of student centered learning for this whole project. Even one of the students says that with engineering you can solve a lot problems. I believe that the students did as well as they did because it was something that they wanted to build and learn about. Also it is a great way for students to come up with ideas to help their community.
